This was another great week. I think perhaps it was the slowest one so far; the weeks have simply been flying by.
I didn't get a lot out of the lectures; i was still trying to process the GO conference. However, on wednesday night the staff had something special planned for us. We had talked about communion earlier on in the day. that was actually one of my favorite times of the week, that little conversation. we we're told to discuss this "What questions should you ask yourself going into communion?". our tables split up and i was with eric and braden, two guys from southern saskatchewan. we didn't really know what to say, so we cracked open the bible. GREAT IDEA when you don't know what to do. in the class we were talking about how often we see communion as a time to confess all our sins before we partake. there is a verse saying that if we don't examine ourselves before taking the bread and wine we will be condemmend or something of that nature. as we read the context of the verse we realized that the examining wasn't of the sin, it was of the reason the people we drinking and eating. the writer accuses some of FILLING their BELLIES on the bread. he reminds them that this isn't just to fill your belly, its to remember christ and to CELEBRATE him. This was the part that got all of us. communion is talked about as if its a big celebration...lots of food for everyone, and something that people partake of in a meal type fashion; with fellowship. COMMUNION = COMMUNITY+ JESUS This is so different from how we do it in our churches...its a quiet solomn individualized ceremony. not something similar to a party celebrating Jesus's gift. anyways, it was an awesome talk. BUT there was more to come.
In the evening we knew we were taking communion but we didn't realize that the staff had set up the entire sancuary with different "stations" along a sort of pilgramage to the center where there was the communion stuff. they had lit candles all throught, and had music playing. there was a place with black and white paper for us to express our praise and thanks with chalk and markers and stuff. then there was a place with mirrors hanging; we were supposed to look in the mirrors and ask God what he said to us about our identities. there was a place with a cross, nails, a hammer, and paper to write our sins down (the majority of us didn't fold it up so no one could see, but left it open. i didn't though. fear of man?) we had a place to write encouragements on sticky notes and stick them to each other at whatever station they're at. and then the final place before the communion table was a place to wash each others feet. it was a good night.
well i need to get to my chores and laundry. its so nice to sleep in; we had a late night last night over at the guys house because it was Jake's 22 birthday yesterday (along with my dear steph!). we were going to go bowling but it didn't work out so we just played poker, had chai tea, and to finish off the night we played moffia. i thought i would suck beacuse i'm such a bad liar but i did alright. well i love you all. SORRY no pictures...i'll talk to sam, he's the one with the know-how around here. love love love love love love love

I just did communion at our church..I was so blessed. A guy shared how it is a conversation between you and God- not just an act. That really spoke to me.
