It's Spring? Oh But!

ooo Okay, it's been a long time, and I've probably lost my readers. My apologies.

Life has been a whirl-wind since being home.

Last night I shared at youth, and although I will always be second-guessing my approaches or points, I hope and pray that the kids got something out of it.

I shared about justice, my heart for it, God's heart for it, and even ventured to get some people thinking about what they can do about it. It's all such a scratch on the surface, but sitting there last night, in the silence while the kids were writing, I realized I was currently doing what I had been wanting to do. I was moving information.

So currently I'm looking for a few things.

1.
I'm looking for ministries that are currently working in our area that have needs; specific needs for specific materials or skills.
I would love to collect that information and if you can help me out, PLEASE DO. Anything you can think of or have heard about... pass it on.

I know I can't do anything alone.

2.
I'm trying to "collect people" in the sense of this:
I want to know if you are interested in helping according to what you love to do.
(please don't volunteer to do things you can't stand doing)

I am such a big fan of doing what you love. It's becoming more and more real to me.
If you want to make a difference, and don't know how, lets talk.
Seriously.
I want to "collect you" and your skills so that when I find someone who needs that specific something, I will only be a call away from making that connection.

I can honestly say I'm happy to be home in Niverville. It took a while, but I think my heart was simply jetlagged (...for several weeks...).
I'm so thankful for my community. I love you all very much.

REPLY NOW... GO... DO IT... NOW... DO IT... SEND....REPLY!

k.
here's my 2 cents:

1. agape house in steinbach. they are a safe house for abused women and children and they have HUGE needs as many flee their homes with nothing at all. if you call their office they can let you knowof specific needs they have.

2. crisis pregnancy center in winnipeg. i have been told they have a small support basis and could really use support....again i would call their office and ask how or what would be the best way to get involved. this ministry touches my heart as they just quietly and faithfully plug along....aware of the big pictureand the huge/ catastrophic/holocaust like conditions the plagueof abortion is making on our society. however, they just focus on the next one that walks through their doors. they have helped save over 2000 babies. they are having a "dessert recetion" and will have more info at that function -- may 12. http://www.pregnancy.mb.ca/main.htm

3. there's also places like siloam mission....

Like Roo said, the Crisis Pregnancy Centre would be a place that comes to mind. Its director, Jurgen, gave an excellent hard-hitting sermon at our church 2 weeks ago. I think he said that volunteers must sign on for 2 years if I remember correctly.

jordon -- isn't jurgen great? CPC also does something that they call a "baby shower for Jesus" where they will come to your church/town/house group etc and everyone that comes is to bring a baby gift -- something from newborn to age 2 -- these items will go towards the mama's that are indesperate need of support (our support!) to raise their babies. then the CPC staff will share a bit about their story and what they deal with.

or...like what i'm doing....there's the "baby bottle drive" people take the baby bottles home and fill them with change for CPC and then you can drop them off....

just a few options....so many needs and so many areas where WE CAN help. even if its only a drop in the bucket...EVERY DROP IS NECESSARY! amen.
